A Narmadeshwar Shivling, also called a Bana Linga, is a natural egg-shaped stone Shivling found in the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is shaped by the river over thousands of years and is considered a self-manifested (swayambhu) form of Lord Shiva, so it can be worshipped at home without pran pratishtha.

◌ CONSULT BEFORE BUYING

Some Shivlings are carved by hand. A Narmadeshwar Shivling is carved by nature. These smooth, egg-shaped stones are collected from the bed of the holy Narmada River, where the flowing water shapes them slowly over thousands of years.

Aum Tatva has supplied sacred items since 2003, as part of the Aggarwal Rudraksha family.

What is the significance of a Narmadeshwar Shivling?

The scriptures say that every stone in the Narmada is a form of Shiva (Narmada ke kankar, utne Shankar). A Narmadeshwar is called swayambhu, self-manifested, so it is believed to carry Shiva’s presence naturally. That is why it does not need pran pratishtha before worship.

How to recognise a Narmadeshwar Shivling?

  • Smooth, oval or egg shape
  • Natural brown, grey or cream colour with darker markings
  • Markings that look like a tilak, a snake or a Om are considered especially auspicious

What are the benefits?

  • Traditionally worshipped for peace and harmony in the home
  • Linked with spiritual growth and a calm mind
  • Believed to remove negative energy from the house
  • Ideal for daily abhishek and for Sawan and Mahashivratri puja

These are traditional beliefs. Results are not guaranteed.

How to worship a Narmadeshwar Shivling?

  1. Place it in the home temple on a base (jalaheri), with the spout facing north.
  2. Do abhishek with water, milk or Gangajal, especially on Mondays.
  3. Offer bel patra, white flowers and a diya.
  4. Chant ॐ नमः शिवाय (Om Namah Shivaya) 108 times.

How to check if a Narmadeshwar Shivling is genuine?

Machine-polished stones from other places are sometimes sold as Narmadeshwar. A natural one has a soft, river-worn finish and natural markings. Every Aum Tatva Shivling comes with a report from RGTL (Rudraksha and Gems Testing Lab), an independent lab trusted by premium brands across India.
