Lord Tirupati Balaji/Venkateshwara – VIII – Carved on Shaligram

The Shaligram is an extremely sacred stone found in the holy Gandaki river in the Nepal. They are considered the same as the Supreme Lord Vishnu himself (Bhagavan). It is considered that Shaligram stones were formed millions of years ago when Himalayas were still the ocean’s floor. Venkateswara also known as Balaji, Venkata is a form of lord Vishnu. In this idol Lord Venkateswara and Goddess Laxmi is beautifully carved on natural Single Shaligram, having four arms. His open palm is pointing towards his holy Lotus feet. According to the Vedic scriptures, such a peculiar hand position is called the Varada Hasta Mudra (The hand that offers boons), with this mystic Mudra, the holy Lord Sri Venkateswara is very emphatically telling us that, I’m going to stand here on the Tirumala Hills forever to protect my devotees in this unholy Kali Yuga. The worshipper of this Shaligram Idol might gets immense strong will power, patience, wealth and happiness in his life.
