Vamavarti Shankh
A Vamavarti Shankh is a natural conch shell whose opening is on the left side when held with the tip up. It is the most common conch in Hindu worship, blown at the start of aarti and puja to purify the space, and kept in the home temple for positive energy.

The sound of the shankh opens every aarti in India. The Vamavarti Shankh, with its opening on the left, is the conch most families blow during daily puja.

What is the significance of the shankh?
The conch came from the churning of the ocean and is held by Lord Vishnu. Its sound is believed to be a form of Om, and to drive away negative energy.
Vamavarti or Dakshinavarti?
- Vamavarti: opens on the left, used for blowing during aarti and daily puja
- Dakshinavarti: opens on the right, rare, kept for Lakshmi worship and not usually blown

How to use it

How to check if it is genuine?
